Business Planning Officer or Specialist

Job Summary

  • The Business Planning Officer /Specialist reports to the Strategy and Business Planning Manager. He/she plays a pivotal role in developing, overseeing, and refining MCQ‘s annual business planning process. Ensures that business plans are aligned with the overall strategic goals of the company. Monitors business plan implementation, facilitates strategic initiatives, and provides data-driven insights that enable informed decision-making at the management level.
  • Key responsibilities also include managing strategic projects, defining objectives, tracking progress, resolving challenges, and promoting adherence to policies and procedures. Additionally, the position emphasizes continuous improvement, process efficiency, and sustainability in alignment with global standards.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a similar discipline from a reputable university.
  • Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.

Key Accountabilities

Media Facilities Management

  • Manage the daily operations of all MCQ’s facilities, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained through coordination with external operators or the internal team.
  • Coordinate the update of facility-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and seeking improvements to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Organize schedules for Media City’s media facilities with input from the team, monitoring their usage and optimizing their efficiency.
  • Manage the deployment of media-specific services, such as post-production services, according to developed policies, executing plans and managing internal and external resources.
  • Collect feedback from the internal team and external operators of media facilities and services, identifying areas for improvement and recommending and implementing improvement activities.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and year-end performance reports for the Media Facilities Management Department, providing updates and recommendations to the ED/Director of Operations & Services.

 

Strategic Contribution

Ensure effective cascading of the divisional strategy into sectional business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing strategies.

People Management

Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the assigned section by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximise sectional performance.

Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned section, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.

Budgeting & Financial Planning
Manage the preparation and recommend the sectional budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget, while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Manage and ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned sectional activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Continuous Improvement
Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices, considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Reporting
Ensure that all sectional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet MCQ requirements, policies and quality standards.


Qualifications, Experience & Skills

A minimum of 3 years of solid experience in business planning, strategy development, or project management within a corporate setting.

Proficiency in Power BI, along with demonstrated experience collaborating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to lead strategic initiatives and business planning efforts.
